Studio Description

Andrew Todd Marcus

In this Studio we will investigate how the city informs the imaginations of its inhabitants and how our the inhabitants' imaginations form the city itself.

We will explores the concept of urbanity and discovery through the design of dynamic and interactive installations in the city. Our projects will seek to surprise, delight, and awaken urban dwellers to the spatial and experiential complexity and living collective imagination of the city.

Students will learn mechanical design and fabrication techniques  and basic electronics and arduino programming to develop urban interventions that transforms users' experiential perspective.

They will design a device or wearable that both interacts and unveils an aspect of the city that is often ignored or unseen. These devices will be wearables, autonomous objects, or enabling devices that invites the wearer or user to experience life in the city in a new way.
